Experience AMALFI as an insider with our small group (4-12) culinary tour to this legendary lush and breathtakingly lovely region of Italy where you'll experience cooking classes, artisan food producers, cultural tours (Pompei), musical events, fabulous wine/food pairing meals, and exciting cultural excursions (Capri). A week of fun, friends, food, wine and laughter - the perfect recipe for success.

Over 15 years ago I fell in love with Italy and its food and decided to share my passion with others through Gourmet Travel - the name almost says it all, while we focus on food and wine, we also include cultural activities of each specific region: in Amalfi we visit Capri, pasta producers, mozzarella makers, limoncello producers, cameo carvers, Positano, and experience a musical performance in Ravello (city of Music).

Because I am a trained chef, my contacts throughout Italy are with fellow food professionals who are eager to share their insider knowledge about the area and its artisan food products, insider views that are simply not available to the average visitor.

To maximize your experience we have professional guides for museum & city tours, Pompeii, and various other points of interest.

After so many years of visiting Italy, my contacts have become friends, not simply business associates. You will share this warm friendship so that you will truly experience an insider's view of Italy. Our small group size enable us to move about freely and go to places larger groups can't experience. All of these factors combine to make this a truly memorable experience.

Fall 2007 was my 2nd tour with Bev, & matched all my expectations because my trip to Tuscany with her in 2006 was fabulous! Everything about the Amalfi Coast is wonderful, and Bev combines a mix of cooking, eating, shopping, sightseeing, & trips to unusual people that one couldn't get without her contacts & organization. Our cooking classes were first rate; I came home & immediately bought a pasta machine. Italy & Bev are synonymous in my mind; I was so lucky to find her; any trip to Italy with Gourmet Traveler will be wonderful. My husband is willing to give up golf in Ireland to tour with Bev in Italy (this man never goes anywhere that he can't play golf!) Can't wait to go again, Sandra

Well, this was my second trip to Italy with Bev in less then 12 months! This was even more amzaing then the first. The great side trips to secluded little places was fantastic! Mozzarella being made from scratch, Limoncello tasting, Universtiy of Pasta, Pizza in Naples. You name it and we did it. Everywhere you went the views were amazing, as you can see from the above pictures. The food was varied and amazing and there is NOTHIN like Mama Agata and her food. The view from her home was breathtaking, she alone was worth the trip. Chef Guiseppe was fun and a great learning experience, for him and us. Once again, Go, Go, Go! Suzanne

Beautiful Ravello, Sunday, 13 April 2008

Bev Gruber selected a fantastic hotel just off the main square in Ravello, high above Amalfi. Breakfasts there were glorious, with superb cappucino (always consumed before 10AM in Italy). Our cooking classes with Mama Agata at her hillside home, with terraced orchard and gardens swooping down to
the sea, were fun-filled with LOTS of homemade red wine! Bev's tours are just the right mix of classes, great restaurants, and carefully selected sights in the Amalfi area, including several food-related "factories" (mozzarella, chocolate, limoncello, ceramic) Can't say enough to describe the delights of this culinary vacation with a talented guide and companion! One of the most enjoyable experiences in travel anywhere!

Amalfi Tour Has It All, Thursday, 10 April 2008

My mom and I did two trips back to back with Bev in the fall of 2005. Amalfi was one that was truly unbelievable. The cooking was unbelievable. Everything came from "Mamma's" garden and when she showed us football sized red peppers she said they were small because it was the end of the season!

Above you can see the views and Mamma. The view from her house is to die for. Ravello is a wonderful town of 2,000 and everyone gets to know you while you're there. The shop keepers would tell us where our friends were if we weren't in a group!

The whole trip is spectacular and believe it or not, you get used to batting up and down the winding road from the top of the hill to the towns on the water.

Bev Gruber is not only a very talented chef herself but a fabulous tour guide. We stayed in a wonderful villa in Ravello, had great cooking classes and lots of fun shopping in Positano. The meals were excellent. My husband and I knew no one when we registered for this May 2006 tour but became fast friends with the other members of the group. Every time I hear the song "YMCA" I think of the fun we had riding along the Amalfi Coast singing and laughing. I can't recommend the Gourmet Traveler tours enough....I enjoyed it so much I went to Tuscany last year....next year Provence with Gourmet Traveler!
